Chemilab
Chemilab Water Service is part of the Chemifloc Group. It was opened in 2017 to meet the demand for conducting jar testing to optimise treatment processes in water treatment plants across the country. We are also involved in research and development activities for new product development and introduction.
Optimising treatment processes is an essential service provided by Chemilab to ensure good quality drinking water is provided from water treatment plants to their network system. This includes dose recommendations to achieve the best organic removal and therefore reduce the number of disinfectant by-products (particularly trihalomethanes, which are carcinogenic) formed during the chlorination stage. Dose assessment and recommendation optimise plant performance with recommended dose rates reducing overdosing and leading to cost savings for plants.
Chemilab provides troubleshooting and problem-solving services to plants that are experiencing difficulties meeting their treatment requirements or are on boil notices, or do not consume notices. This service may include coagulant comparison, coagulant with and without pH control products comparison, polymer selection, and/or comparison of different mixing rates, etc.
Another service provided by us is lead mitigation. We currently have four dedicated lead rigs onsite, where we can demonstrate the effects of correct/incorrect pH, alkalinity, phosphate dosing, and standing/contact time on the levels of lead leachate from lead pipes.
Other services provided include onsite visits to water treatment plants to help troubleshoot or start up, pump calibration, drop tests, and more.

Trihalomethane Analysis
Chemifloc has Ireland’s only dedicated laboratory equipment for directly testing the 4 key parameters in THM analysis. We use this unique facility to test raw water samples and filtered treated water samples to determine their THM formation potential.
